Local/Regional External Scholarships
Gerrish-Higgins/Roscommon Alumni Association $1,000 Scholarship
The Gerrish-Higgins/Roscommon Alumni Association offers scholarships to Roscommon High School graduates whose parent, grandparent, or legal guardian also attended Gerrish-Higgins/Roscommon High School.
Application Deadline: None as applications are accepted throughout the year.
2015 Kenley Farrel Memorial Scholarship ($1,000 & $250)
The Michigan Mosquito Control Association would like to invite students to apply for the 2015 Kenley Farrel Memorial Scholarship. This essay scholarship is offered to high school seniors and college undergrads residing in Michigan, who plan to attend college in the next school year. First place is a $1,000 scholarship and second place is $250, with no restrictions on how the money is used.
Application Deadline: November 1, 2015
Many colleges and universities offer transfer scholarship. Check with the Admissions or Financial Aid Office of the school you are transferring to.
Jack Kent Cooke Foundation Undergraduate Transfer Scholarship
The Jack Kent Cooke Foundation provides up to $40,000 per year to approximately 85 deserving students across the country transferring from community college to the university. Applicants are judged on criteria including: achievement and academic ability, financial need, persistence, leadership and desire to help others. Candidates must meet minimum criteria: current student at a U.S. community college or 2-year institution with sophomore status or a recent graduate (within last 5 years), college GPA of 3.5 or above, plan to transfer to university to being studies next fall, and demonstrate financial need. Students who have previously enrolled at and attended a 4-year institution are not eligible.
Application period is open October-December each year. Applicants are notified in April.
National External Scholarships
GraduateNursingEDU.org $500 Scholarship Essay Contest (4 to be awarded)
GraduateNursingEDU.org has launched their first, annual essay contest. There will be four winners, each receiving a $500 scholarship to help make earning a degree in nursing just a little bit easier. The topic of your 100-200 word essay is up to you. You’re free to add a video and a picture or two. Just be sure your essay is accurate, truthful, and inspired. The essay will be judged based on grammar, creativity, and originality. Applicants must be a citizen of the United States, be at least 18 years old (at the time of disbursement) and be enrolled in a nursing program.

SeniorAdvisor.com $2,000 2015 Future of Assisted Living Scholarship (2 to be awarded)
SeniorAdvisor.com, the premier ratings and review site for senior services providers nationwide, is proud to announce their second annual scholarship for advancement in higher education. Two $2,000 scholarships are available to students enrolled in an associate’s degree, bachelor’s degree or graduate level program at an accredited 2-year college or 4-year university. Each eligible student must submit a 500-750 word essay response to the question: How can your major of study improve the lives of seniors in assisted living facilities in your town?
