Kirtland Center for the Performing Arts
Check out our Kirtland Center performances for 2012. Coming up on February 25 is Sinbad, an american stand-up comedian and actor. He became well known in the 1990s from being featured on his own HBO specials, appearing on several television series, and starring in the films Necessary Roughness, Houseguest, First Kid, Jingle All the Way and Good Burger.

Kirtland Community College Lady Firebirds Fall to Owens (January 4)
The Lady Firebirds basketball team lost to Owens Community College on Dec. 30th by a score of 74-44, bringing their record to 5-5 overall. The Firebirds fell behind early when they could not break Owens' press. The Firebirds came out strong in the second half, but were still outscored 26-22.
Leading the Firebirds were Brooke Arnold with 12 points, six rebounds and three assists. Cassie Ryckman contributed eight points, four rebounds, one block, and one assist. Melinda Dunkel was two for three from three-point range and contributed six points. Josie Wiltse and Tasha Crouse had five points each, while Abbye Gulvas and Kim Dunn added four points apiece.

Kirtland Community College Foundation Announces Fall Scholarship Awards (December 23)
The Kirtland Community College Foundation recently awarded $4,200 in scholarships, providing financial support for deserving students to offset the cost of pursuing higher education in one of Kirtland's academic programs. Multiple endowed scholarship funds exist, providing vital support to one of the central missions of the college, which is to offer affordable educational opportunities for the citizens of the Kirtland region.
KCC Library Joins Foundation Center's National Network (December 23)
Nonprofit organizations and other grantseekers looking for funding sources now have access to a valuable new collection of resources at Kirtland Community College Library, which has become a Cooperating Collection of the Foundation Center of New York.
KCC Business Instructor Judith Grenkowicz and Library Director Deb Shumaker successfully partnered to bring the Cooperating Collection to north central Michigan, joining Michigan State University, the University of Michigan, Wayne State University and Lake Superior State University as the only educational institutes in the state to provide vital grantseeking information and training to under-resourced and underserved populations in need.
KCC Announces 2011-12 Fall Semester Honors List (December 22)
Officials at Kirtland Community College recently recognized students for their academic achievements during the 2011-12 fall semester which earned them placement on the college's dean's and president's lists.
To qualify for the president's list, candidates must be full-time students who earn a grade-point average between 3.8 and 4.0. Dean's list candidates must have a grade-point average of 3.4 to 3.799.
